Goodbye, Marilyn

49 years ago. August 5th, 1962 Marilyn found dead. Murder? Suicide? Will we ever really know?
I have been to the house where she died. It was so...quiet. Peaceful almost and a bit spooky.
Not a HUGE fan but I liked her in several of her films and she was certainly a icon and symbol of sex and classic Hollywood. The video above is from " Gentlemen Prefer Blondes "  Also recommend " Seven Year Itch " , " Some Like It Hot " and  " The Misfits ". R.I.P.

Seeing the house where she died, and her grave, will always be memories I will never forget. RIP Marilyn <3

  2. " Niagara "! How could I forget it! I like that one cause it's the only film she did where is bad and dangerous. A real femme fatale. Should have included it with the others. Thanks for comments Crystal!

  3. My guess is unintentional overdose. Poor woman made some bad choices into where to find her strength. It was in her -- not some fool in Hollywood who could make or break her. But a product of her times. It's a pity she didn't have greater faith in herself. Just look what she overcame to get to where she DID get.
One of the great, tragic Hollywood icons, she continues to fascinate all these years after she passed.

  4. And you know, even as a six-year old kid (me in 1962) I knew something sad had happened when I heard she'd died. At SIX I knew who she was!

  5. Hey Debbi. I alas, was too young and don't remember a thing about her death. And I think I agree with the overdose theory, but not sure of the accidental part. She had tried MANY times before and not succeeded. I feel the same about Judy.

  6. I never really liked her until I saw Seven Year Itch and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, which was when I was in my twenties. I didn't get her, I guess, but she was quite a comedienne ("What happened? I kinda lost track."). It's a shame that she never really got a chance to go through that career transition from the ditzy blonde to the dramatic (or versatile) actress she wanted to be (except for The Misfits, I suppose) - and that so many other actors who lived longer had an opportunity to do.

Remember when we saw her grave in Westwood?
